Dear Mr. Jay Feldmen, Mr. Thomas
Yoza, the Hawaiian Trail and Mountain Club, and the entire Kekina Ohana,
I just received this today. Thank You very much for your Email and the
Web Page that your club had established. As you are well aware of,
Mabel was a conduit and a great Liaison for your Hawaiian Trail and
Mountain Club, our HPD Missing Persons Detail, the HFD Rescue Unit, and
our Missing Hikers. Through her dedication, and your wonderful
personnel at the HTMC, lives were saved, and those you passed away,
their loved ones were comforted as we were able to bring them home.
I retired from HPD ON 11-01-11, and began a new career at NCIS on
11-07-11. Some of my greatest memories have been with Mabel and the
Hawaiian Trail and Mountain Club. I, like all of you will never forget
Mabel. God Bless her Soul. From the bottom of my heart, I want to Thank
You for taking the time to let me know of Mabel's passing. Her passion
and love for our land, was so very evident as she, along with so many
of you, have kept and continue to keep our trails safe and passable.
Her knowledge of the trails throughout this island was also amazing. I
know of many instances where our Rescue Personnel where grateful for
Mabel's input and experience. I thank God because Mabel was able to
bring the dedicated members of the Hawaiian Trail and Mountain Club
together to help the Lost (And their families as well).
God Speed and Take Care,
Philip V. Camero
